A session of exploration into social media and social learning. We will define the two terms separately, and then examine the unique time period we are in right now, and how technology now serves as an enabler of social learning instead of a barrier. We will also examine the primary types of social media tools, sharing examples of how they can be used to support learning, and how they can be adapted for the individual cultures of each organization.
Format: This will be an interactive discussion facilitated by the presenter. Audience involvement is encouraged during the session.

David Kelly has been an internal learning and performance consultant and training director for over 15 years. He has been a leader in local ASTD chapters, serving as a local board member and national adviser. Dave is active in the learning community, and can often be seen speaking at industry conferences and events. In 2011 the eLearning Council voted him one of the 10 most influential eLearning bloggers for his blog, Misadventures in Learning. He is also known for his curation efforts, especially related to conferences and events for learning and performance professionals. David recently joined The eLearning Guild as Program Director for all face-to-face events.
